Lastest Venture

Hello people,
I've come to a decision about my artistic 'career'. Awhile ago I started to make a book with the black and white photography from the Smokey Mountains trip that my mom & I did when we sprinkled dad's ashes. I would like to finish the book and enlarge the photographs to around 16X20 & have a show. I've never done an art show before outside of school and I need some advice. I was thinking about uploading the photographs either onto here or facebook so my artists friends can give me advice on which ones I should have in the show. All of the photos will be displayed in the book along w. some captions about the trip.

I am also going to have my other nature photographs enlarge so I can sell them at this year's Avon Lake Homecoming Festival in October. I have emailed/Facebook some people to find out who I need to talk to inorder to get a booth.

Wish me luck.

Waiting for new job to start

Well it has been awhile and I would like to play catch up. Back in November I have decided to go back to the "old fashion" way of getting a job (ground mailing DVD portfolio along with resume and cover letter to production studios and photography companies. I did a follow up call to a Paul Perhaps of Mystic Image Video. It was during the holiday season so I wasn't expecting anyone to have time to hire anyone new. But as luck would have it Paul still had my package on his desk and he said that he has seen my work and loved it. Especially and "hunting" movie. We talked for a while and he said that he would like to set up an interview before the holidays...fast forward to January.

I figured that it was busy for him so I decided to call back and I got his wife Lana. I talked to her about he previous discussion that I had w. her husband and she set up an interview w. me the following Monday...or it may have been Tuesday. Anywas Paul called me before I headed out and Lana had appointments w. potention bride clients, but he said that if it was cool w. me that I can come out and meet with him. He saw my "flat" work and my resent DVD that I made for my cousin's baton business and we talked about how he would talk it over w. Lana and I would come back to do a more "formal" interview w. her. I met w. Lana about two weeks after and she decided that she wanted to give me a chance. They wanted me to start off as a Production Assistant. I would help set up and take down equipment and assistant the camera operators until I move up 2nd hand camera operator. The wedding "season" doesn't start until May so I'm just waiting for news on when I can start requesting days off from Dick's to go make some real money.

I just hope that I didn't blow it. I checked my email & found out that Paul had emailed me to see if I would help him w. a shooting at a school event. I had to work and I didnt' have time to change shifts. I felt like I messed up. I emailed Paul back and he was like "oh I was worried like you died or something. Rob set it up so that any email from them will go directly to my phone. I emailed Paul the info and he said that it will come in handy. That was the last that I have heard from them. I emailed after about letting them know that I can't wait to start working for them and I wanted to know if anything was going on work wise. Nothing. I am worried that just because I didn't get check my email everyday and I missed the opprotunity. What if they never respond to my emails and they never get ahold of me for their wedding jobs. I will feel like it was another failed attempt at getting a job in my field.

First Cartoon.

Here is the first cartoon that I did for the website. He just wanted a simple black and white drawing. I used photoshop unlike whomever did the cartoons previously on his site. http://www.apsaccurate.net/. In my oppinion the guy may have just drew a picture on a piece of paper, took picture of it w. digital camera and uploaded it from there. Just one of many. I think of this as some extra cash and one more freelance job to put on the resume. So long for now. I'll keep you posted. Let me know what you think.

Cartoonist for Website

Awhile ago my grandpa was telling me that I should use Craigslist.com to find jobs. I was on my facebook page and one of my friends made the comment "I love craigslist." and it clicked. Rob was playing Batman Arkham Assylum and so I decided to do some job searching. Went to Art,Design,Media under jobs, went through the list, and emailed my interests to some of the job opts. One of them was for a guy looking for a Cartoonist for his website. I sent him an email and I got a phone call the next morning.

The office was down the street so I grabbed a sketchbook and went over. His name is Tom and he actually makes gages. The gages are for auto welding...something like that. He has clients in London, Japan, and Australia. But @ first I was like. "so I'm going to make cartoons for a gage website?" Nope. His website is about converting the U.S. metric system into the one that the world uses. Like instead of using miles, it will be kilometers. No more am and pm, just military time. The biggest change will be the calendar. Ever heard of The World Calendar? It was designed in the 1930's. The U.S. was suppose to adapt it in the 1950's, but Roosevelt decided not to adapt it because not enough people from congress passed it or something. Basically there will be either 30 or 31 days every month & every date will be on the same day. Like your birthday will be on the same day every year. So my job will be to design cartoons for the site. Like a clock w. 13:00 instead of 1:00pm. Stuff like that. Got any questions just let me know.
